Thanks to everyone who came along to the open meeting! It was great to hear your input for the summer classes and get an idea of what/when you’d like our next workshop to be. The minutes are up on the forum, so do check them out and get back to us with any more thoughts.
Many thanks to everyone who came along to Strawberry Fair and joined us in the parade! It was brilliant to take along such a huge contingent, and I think we owe ourselves much kudos for managing to dance our way round the long parade route!
We’re very happy to let you know that the Speakeasy’s air-conditioning is fixed!! Thanks to the Man on the Moon for sorting it before the summer really got going. Remember that the bands will be taking some time off over the summer, so come along in June to be sure of getting your Monday fix of live music and social dancing.
CLH are taking part in the parade for Strawberry Fair this Saturday. Wear your vintage clothes, or show off your CLH stash, and dance your way through town with us, starting at around 10:30am. Anyone who would like to come along, please email info[at]cambridgelindy.com so we can book your free lunch and send you the details.
This Sunday (7th) is the start of the council’s Jazz in the Park events. A group of us will be headed down to Jesus Green enjoy the free music and have a picnic. Do come and join us. The live music is between 3 and 5pm, and we’ll bring our own music too.
Thank you to everybody who came to our workshops and dance on Sunday. It was a fabulous day and it was good to see so many of you there. Special thanks are also due to Dan and Gem for giving the wonderful workshops, and to our army of bakers and volunteers without whom the day wouldn’t have been half as good.
In order to keep the numbers fairly even we’re closing booking for follows for the workshops. If you’d like to come but haven’t booked yet, please email me at info at cambridgelindy.com and I’ll add you to the waiting list. Leads, please book so we can give some lovely follows a place!
We’ve still got lots of places for the dance though, so email me to book or register at one of our classes.
Many thanks to everybody who came along and supported us and danced with us at the Buskers’ Festival yesterday! It wouldn’t have been half as good without you. We had a fabulous time.
On 6th of June the Cambridge Lindy Hoppers have been asked to take part in the Strawberry Fair parade, starting at 11:30. Not just the troupe: all of us. And they will be feeding us afterwards. How can you resist that offer? I have to let them know how many are coming, presumably so they can give out tickets for free food, so if you want to take part, drop me a line at info at cambridgelindy.com, or grab me (Caroline) at class. Hope lots of you can come!
The Cambridge Lindy Hoppers performance troupe will be performing at the Cambridge Buskers Festival on Saturday 9th May. We’ll be outside Great St Mary’s from 1200-1300, at St Giles from 1400-1500, and at Lion Yard from 1600-1700. Come along to support us, and don’t forget to check out all the other great acts!
We’re pleased to announce a balboa workshop with Dan Guest and Gemma Barson on Saturday 23rd May. This is a great chance to learn some Balboa or brush up/develop your skills, with workshops centred around a Bal swing fundamental move, the Throw Out.
We’ll of course have an evening dance (which will be lindy-friendly) with refreshments, cake and a CLH after-party!! See the booking page for more details.
We have the band schedule for the Speakeasy over the next three months!

Thanks to our fabulous bands for agreeing to keep playing for us!
Don’t forget it’s the CLH AGM tomorrow at the Centre at St Pauls at 9pm. Come along and vote for a new committee! The lesson at 7:30 pm will be a mixed-level lesson. Normal service (beginners at 7:30, intermediates at 9pm) will resume next week.
Thank you so much to everybody who participated, whether you were sponsoring someone else, getting sponsored, or just turned up to help raise cash on the night.
Our provisional total so far is a whopping £7150 but we don’t think we’ve got it all down, so if you were a sponsored dancer, please contact Ros at ros@cambridgelindy.com to tell her what your final total is and how you’re going to get the money to the trust.
Well done everyone – see you next year!
The Lindy Hopathon is on today at the Centre at St Pauls on Hills Road, raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. We’re dancing from midday to midnight with a beginners’ class at 6pm, then an afterparty until the early hours. The current schedule includes three live bands, a raffle, a photo booth, massages, a slave auction, and lots lots more, so there’s plenty to do even when your feet need a break. As far as we know the roads are all clear and the forecast is for a clear night so there shouldn’t be any travel problems either getting here or going home.
Come along and dance your socks off for a fab cause and tell all your friends to donate at our justgiving page!
