Cambridge Lindy Hoppers

We run a variety of events throughout the year focusing on both workshops and social dancing. Social dancing is really the main purpose of Cambridge Lindy Hoppers. Our classes are mainly focused on giving you the skills to dance socially, so we want all our members to do as much social dancing as possible. Upcoming events are listed below.

Summer Party and Blues Dance (August 25)

The August bank holiday (Monday August 25) is going to be our big CLH summer party.  We will be lindy bombing Jesus Green and then heading off for a pub dinner before dancing the night away at the Speakeasy, where there will be an extended night of social dancing - live band The Rob James Trio will keep us swinging until 10pm, followed by a blues after-party till midnight.

To fit all this in, the Speakeasy lesson WILL START AT THE EARLIER TIME OF 7PM, rather than the usual time of 7.30pm

Lindy bomb: Jesus Green, 3pm - 5pm.  Bring a picnic!  We will provide the music.  Unfortunately there is only grass or concrete to dance on.  We will be between the tennis courts and the refreshments kiosk/toilets.

Pub dinner: We will be heading off to somewhere local after the lindy bomb.  Feel free to join us!  Call Gemma on 07732 642473 to find us if you missed us at the lindy bomb.

Speakeasy:
Taster blues lesson: 7pm - 8pm   –Note the earlier start time!!–
Band: 8pm - 10pm
Blues party: 10pm - 12am
Cost: £4 members / £5 non-members

Other details: No need to book.  Call Gemma on 07732 642473 if you have any problems finding us.  If you haven’t done any blues before, don’t worry - the band will be playing music suitable for lindy hop as well.

Cambridge Lindy Exchange (Oct 17-19 2008)

The biggest event on the Cambridge Lindy Hoppers calendar for 2008 is also our most intensive social dancing opportunity! Three main dance events over one weekend, plus after hours dancing and loads of socialising, so mark this date in your diary now! More information will follow soon on the CLX Website.

The Speakeasy on Mondays

Our premiere social dance evening is now on Monday nights at The Man On The Moon, 2 Norfolk Rd, Cambridge, CB1 2LF. We have a fun beginners lesson at 7.30pm, followed by live music from the finest local jazz musicians from 8.30pm to 10.30pm. Door entry is £4 for Members and £5 for Non-Members. Wednesdays at class

Regular social dancing is held on Wednesdays between classes at The Centre at St Paul’s, Hills Rd, Cambridge, CB2 1JP. You are most welcome to join us for the social dancing between classes - if you are not taking classes, we ask for a £1 entry fee.
