Wednesday – Lindy Hop Classes

Lindy Hop Every Wednesday at The Centre at St Paul’s

Classes are taught in monthly blocks and start on the first Wednesday of the month. You are welcome to join in at any time, but particularly if you don’t have much dance experience or if you haven’t danced with us before, we recommend trying to attend a whole block from the start of a month, as later classes only do a quick recap of the essential material from past classes. No partner required, we rotate throughout the class.

Beginners:

No previous dance experience is required, although these classes are slightly more challenging than our Tuesday classes for absolute beginners, so we recommend you attend one or two Tuesday classes first if you have never done any dancing before. You will learn 6-count and 8-count basic steps in a fun environment. Social dancing is free if you do a lesson. There is a nominal entrance charge if you just come for the social dancing.

Intermediates:

As a guide, you should have at least 3-6 months’ dance experience, and should feel comfortable with both 6- and 8-count basics, including the Charleston, Swing Out (Lindy turn), Circle, and simple footwork variations. We recommend that you attend at least three 4-week Beginner blocks before attempting this class if you have no previous dance experience, and that you should be able to comfortably dance for a whole track on the social dancefloor, using the moves above. This class focuses on improving your dancing in a fun and challenging environment, and covers fundamental social dancing techniques such as connecting with your partner, improving your footwork, and musicality.
