I’ve updated the Speakeasy page with one of Rob James’ promotional videos for the band. We sent along some dancers to help with the shoot. What a sound!

For the five weeks of August, Wednesday lessons will consist of one lesson from 7.30 – 8.30, with an hour or so of social dancing from 8.30 – 9.30.

These lessons will be taught by various different teachers and will be suitable for anybody, whether you are a beginner or have some experience.

The class content will be as follows:

• 3rd August – Jitterbug Stroll
• 10th August - Stealing (how to cut in on the dancefloor without breaking the rhythm of the dance)
• 17th August – Shag (a different and fun type of swing dancing)
• 24th August – Boogie Woogie: a European take on 50s Rock’n'Roll (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1UP2pBG8hc)
• 31st August – Dancing with Props: come and find out how lindy hop works when you’re blindfolded, or extending your connection with a rope or scarf, and other fun games!

Cambridge City Council: The Big Weekend (Sunday July 10th; 4pm-5pm)

Caroline and Will will be providing a taster lesson in the Dance Marquee on Parker’s Piece. Come along and provide support, promote the society and in general have a good time!

The CLH Garden Party (Friday 15th July; from 7:30pm)

Come along to Mark Wilson’s at 10 Madingley Road (details below) for this year’s summer garden party!

BBQ and music provided, normal BBQ rules: Bring a bottle, bring some meat/salad/pudding and bring a garden game if you can! (Also: Expect some dancing and/or limbo)

The house is set back from the road a bit. Going out of town down Madingley road; it’s the drive on the right immediately after the turning for Grange road (on the left). The house is about 50m up the drive. Signs will be put out.

Thanks to everybody who signed up for this year’s Cambridge Lindy Exchange! We saw quite a rush and effectively sold out in twelve hours. A waiting list is in place for follows and couples, so stay tuned for further tickets if cancellations come in.
However, tickets are still available for single leads! No more follow tickets will be available until the gender balance is improved, so please get in touch with any leads you know and invite them to come!

Don’t forget registration open almost exactly two weeks from now, at midnight at the start of Friday 1st July!

Instead of the annual fund-raising Spring Fair, this year St Pauls will be hosting an open day to demonstrate the various activities that go on in the Centre. The idea is still to raise funds for the Centre with the usual cake, bric-a-brac, book stalls and bouncy castle. There will also be some food available.

Will and Louise will be running a taster session to demonstrate Lindy Hop alongside the various dance and yoga activities on offer. The event runs from 11am to 1:30pm – participation from existing CLH’ers will be very welcome!
