The Cambridge Lindy Hoppers present a weekend of blues workshops and social dancing.
Ursula Ledergerber finished her professional dance-education in July
2002, including Modern Dance, Jazz Dance, Ballet and Flamenco. She has been teaching Lindy Hop, Tap, Stretching and Body Control for more than 10 years at national and international level. Her dance style is characterized by the relationship between new and old movements, as well as a strong focus on musicality. Since her early childhood Ursula has been surrounded by Jazz music, as her mother was a drummer in jazz band. It is no surprise that her comprehension and love for Jazz and Lindy Hop naturally came to her. This might explain her passion for music and dancing as well as her ease in playing around with rhythm, which always adds variations in dancing. She is also organizing an international lindy hop workshop focused on musicality and rhythm in October 2008. Check her website http://www.stirit.ch/.
Dave Madison (USA). In 1996, Dave Madison discovered Big-Band music and Swing dancing through the movie Swing Kids. He started to learn 6-count, Jitterbug and East-Coast swing before he fell in love with Lindy Hop. Later on, he discovered Blues dancing thanks to the conniving of his friend Mel and the song Fallin’ in 2001. After that, his life took a turn.
Soon after, he became instrumental in the origins of the contemporary Blues house party, helping founding LindyBooty, the world’s largest Lindy house Blues event in San Francisco, which then inspired blues parties across the West Coast and the United States. In 2007 he organized and was one of the instructors at Blues Rising, the largest Blues dancing workshop of our time, bringing in a huge number of instructors and attendees from across the country. He’s also taught Blues to classes across the globe, from the workshop on Blues Night at Herrang to Lindy Focus and Enter the Blues, as well as an upcoming European tour.
