Performances and Teaching (Book Us!)

We love to show people how fun Lindy hop can be and have a long history of providing performances for events in and around Cambridge including college balls, 1940s weekends, dance shows, village fairs, the Busker’s Festival, the Strawberry Fair, vintage events, charity and fundraising events, private parties and many more.

CLH Performance Group CLH Performance Group
We typically offer a combination of:

  • Freeform social dancing – couples dancing lindy hop to classic swing tunes, as you would see at a typical lindy hop swing dance
  • Classic Lindy hop strolls – a number of traditional choreographed Lindy hop routines such as the Shim Sham, Jitterbug Stroll and Charleston Stroll which see our dancers performing the routine together
  • Taught Lindy hop taster hop classes can also be provided stand alone or to go with our performances (also see the teaching section below)

As our dancers largely do this for fun, our costs are fairly low and we are happy to discuss options. This might involve, for example, free entry to your event for those performing, together with travel expenses if outside Cambridge.  Provision of tea and cake is always welcome.

What happens when I contact you about an event? – We will then ask our dancers who’s available and if we can get enough dancers involved before we can commit to your event.  Please be aware we get many requests so cannot guarantee to attend all.

Please note that we can’t currently offer performances at the same level as those shown below from the (now retired) CLH Troupe, i.e. we cannot do ‘performance pieces’ or put on a dedicated show.  But we can definitely provide a genuine, fun and entertaining Lindy Hop dance experience!

Please contact us via the Contact page with details of your event and what we might be able to do for you.

If you’re a dancer and want to appear in our performances, join our performances mailing list.

We have an excellent group of Teachers  who you can find at our Lindy Hop, Balboa and Blues weekly classes.  Subject to availability, we can attend your event to provide high quality and fun instruction. E.g.

  • Private lessons
  • Taster classes
  • Workshops

Please contact us via the Contact page with your requirements, we will then see if any of our teachers are available and put you in touch.  Costs are discussed between yourselves and the teachers.

The Cambridge Lindy Hoppers Troupe (Retired)

For a number of years, a group of dancers from Cambridge Lindy Hoppers formed a dedicated and semi-professional dance troupe who choreographed and performed original lindy hop routines. While the Troupe is no longer active, the pictures and videos below give an idea of some of their past performances.
