Cakewalk Class this Wednesday
Posted in News by matthew at 3:16 am |
Lindy Hop spread like wildfire during the 1930s, but it didn’t just spring up out of nowhere. A huge range of dances are considered part of the swing dancing tradition. One of the most important of these was The Cakewalk, which is thought to have been invented on the plantations in the American south during 1890s. In this week’s class we will give you a taste of the Cakewalk tradition — one which happily involves couples dancing in competion for, you guessed it, cakes. We are combining the Intermediate and Beginner streams for the next couple of weeks, so we will be kicking off at 8pm, followed by the social from 9pm. Please note that this means there will be no Intermediate class at 7pm this week.
